Card Text
A shy little Irish girl won the hearts of the British public during 1954. Her name [sic] Ruby Murray and she had come all the way from Belfast to make a career. Actually her first break came when she was twelve and T.V. producer Richard Afton spotted her. He put her in a show which proved successful. However, Ruby was too young. It was Afton who gave her her second break six years later when he spotted a familiar face and heard a familiar voice in an all-Irish show playing in London. This led to the "Quite Contrary" series, a contract with Columbia and a disc titled "Softly, Softly." Ruby's most recent, and happiest, step was her marriage to one of the Jones Boys vocal quartet.
