Re: News from Canada.

Bernie sent me this family group photograph a few days ago which I'm now pleased at his request to add to the message board - Ruby with her mother and sister Lilian and her daughter Janice. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c332/musikooluk/RubyMurraywithMothersisterLilianand.jpg Rest in Peace, Lilia...

Re: Photograph of Ruby on ATV's 'Music Shop'

Just to confirm that the photograph of Ruby, Teddy and Toni did indeed originate from Judy (Camaygirl), one of the regular posters on Whirligig. It was remiss of me not to give her an acknowledgement here, but do pass on my thanks to her as well, Graham. I have mentioned Whirligig in this forum befo...

Photograph of Ruby on ATV's 'Music Shop'

I don't think it's possible to upload photographs into the Library at the moment, so I'm hoping I can post it here, pro tem.
Ruby is enjoying a happy moment with singers Toni Dalli and Teddy Johnson.

Re: Happy Days And Lonely Nights CD (downloads?)

I just popped back in to the 7digital site again, and I now see there are two other collections - each with cover illustrations and which seem to have been there since 2007 and 2008, so I'm even more convinced now that these are not available to buy as CDs but are there purely to offer the tracks as...

Happy Days And Lonely Nights CD (downloads?)

Has anyone else noticed that another collection of Ruby tracks has been issued, by a company named Fountain Records. I spotted it on a website 7digital.com. As a matter of fact I'm not sure if this is actually a CD. There are only 12 tracks and I suspect they are only available from Fountain as down...

Re: Ruby's "The Spinning Wheel" LP (Fontana Special)

Ralph - both of the tracks you mention were included on a 20xtrack UK Philips CD, 'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling'. When I checked my copy just now I was surprised to note that it was issued as long ago as 1993, so will be long deleted by now. It's worth checking Amazon or e-bay from time to time, howe...

Ruby on 'youtube'

Does anyone else spend time in 'youtube' viewing vintage TV & Film clips. So far as I know there are no clips of Ruby that we aren't already familiar with, but a number of people are uploading various audio recordings usually with a photograph or two on screen. Sometimes very attractive montages of ...

Ruby - cover girl

We're all familiar with the magazine 'TV Mirror' on which Ruby is seen on the front cover, but currently for auction on e-bay is a copy of the 3 March 1956 edition of 'Illustrated', which I don't recall seeing before. There's an article within, and a nice colour pose of Ruby on the cover. I've taken...

Re: Glen Mason

Thanks for your interesting background info on the Jack Jackson Show, Bernie. It was a favourite show of mine (and most teenagers of the time). The programme was invariaby a topic of conversation at work on the Monday following Sunday's show. One regular name you didn't mention was Libby Morris. A C...

Glen Mason

A couple of weeks ago I posted to the Library a photograph of Ruby with Parlophone vocalist, Glen Mason. I'm sure a lot of you will remember Glen as he was recording and appearing on TV regularly during the 1950s. No doubt Ruby and Glen met on a number of occasions - not least on the ITV's long runn...

Re: Harry Hammond 1920-2008

I can't answer your 'teaser', Bernie - and wouldn't even have known there was ever a Fairground in Regents Park.

Incidentally, did Ruby drive a car herself? I know we have that pic of her posing by a car in the EMI box set, but I don't recall seeing her behind the wheel.

Harry Hammond 1920-2008

The death has just been reported of Harry Hammond, sometimes known as 'The Father of Pop Photography'. In recent years his collection, taken thoughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s, has been in the care of the Victoria & Albert Museum. He may not be a familiar named to many, but readers of the N...

I've just posted the picture of Tony Brent & Anne Warren to the Library (miscellaneous images) - but the image has somehow become scrambled during the upload. Help Gerald! This happened on a previous occasion, and I think at the time you explained what I'd done wrong (and managed to correct it) but ...

Was there ever a photograph taken of Ruby with Anne Warren? I can't recall seeing one, but I've just come across a pic of Anne Warren with Tony Brent. If you refer to my earlier message you will note that they recorded a duet together about the same time as Ruby and Anne cut 'If Anyone Finds This I ...
