help!

Post by nnikki »

Hi
Please help....... I am trying to locate a song by Ruby which a friend says reminds him of his Mum & Dad. He doesnt know the title other than the words 'somebodys watching over me' is somewhere within the lyrics.
I could of course buy all the CDs that I can find through the NET....however I am a student and thought this would be the most cost effective way to proceed at first!
Thanks
Nikki

Hello Nikki,

I feel sure that someone will be able to come up with some answers so stay around. I also think that you will receive a welcome email from JK from the website.

I personally am still scratching my bonnet trying to think which lyric contains those words.

Seeing as you are a student, you will cause quite a bit of interest because you are probably from a different generation to most of us. I know of several stalwart fans who are extremely knowledgeable on Ruby's songs so have a look in again tomorrow. I will stay on it to see that you get what you are looking for.

Good Luck with your search.

Kindest regards. Bernie (Burgess)

Hello Again Nikki,

I've just thought of a song, it's not one that Ruby recorded but it might fit your question. Part of the lyric goes like this: -

There's a somebody I'm longing to see,
I hope that she, turns out to be,
Someone to watch over me. (That is the name of this song)

I think the middle eight goes something like this.

Although I may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome,
To my heart she carries the key,

etc, etc. Does that strike a chord?

Adios Amigo. Bernie.

Hello Nikki, welcome to the site, good to have you on, and thank-you for posting your message.

Well lets see what we can do, first I don't think those words are in any Ruby songs, but someone might say I am wrong. Bernie is quite right with the one "Someone to watch over me" that was recorded by a lot of artist, the most popular one being "Ella Fitzgerald & George Gershwin", but "Eva Cassidy also recorded it, and "Rod Stewart", and lots more. Now there is another song called Someone’s "Watching Over Me" and that was recorded by "Hilary Duff". If any of these two are the one you are after let me know and I will see if I can help you get them, I would need your email.

There’s a saying old, says that love is blind
Still we’re often told, "seek and ye shall find"
So I’m going to seek a certain lad I’ve had in mind

Looking everywhere, haven’t found him yet
He’s the big affair I cannot forget
Only man I ever think of with regret

I’d like to add his initial to my monogram
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost lamb?

There’s a somebody I’m longin’ to see
I hope that he, turns out to be
Someone who’ll watch over me

I’m a little lamb who’s lost in the wood
I know I could, always be good
To one who’ll watch over me

Although he may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome
To my heart he carries the key

Won’t you tell him please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me

Won’t you tell him please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh, how I need
Someone to watch over me

Someone to watch over me
Regards
John.
